Jayne Morden, long time CSD webmaster and photographer passes away
Jayne Morden lost her 2+ year battle with cancer on June 12, 2014. She had served as CSD’s webmaster for over 10 years, taking it from a nearly inactive site to one that has been a model and of innovation for other districts’ sites as well. For many years, she was a fixture at contests as well as she took many photos of all competitors as they competed on stage. Her constantly positive attitude made her a ready friend to all who encountered her where negativity was not tolerated. She was an Associate member of the BHS and a 40 year Sweet Adeline member who sang in several quartets, most notably the Sunshine Music Company, that won their regional championship 4 times! Over the years, she sang with, and sometimes directed, several S.A. choruses, including the Kansas City chorus, competing with them multiple times at the medalist level in their International competitions. She and Ron have been very active for their joint coaching activities around CSD with both choruses and quartets. For several years, Jayne and Ron have sung together in mixed quartets that have been expanding the barbershop style music venue. She and Ron have been active in the formation of what will soon become the Society’s newest affiliate, the Mixed Barbershop Harmony Association. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Ron, and their dog Angel (who is convinced she’s really just a small, furry person!). Jayne never wanted a funeral, so there will be a Celebration of Life event in her memory at p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Panora Methodist Church, Panora, IA. The address is 119 E. Main in Panora. Memorial contributions can be sent to the church at P.O. Box 601, Panora, IA 50216. Those memorial contributions will be used for the church’s music program. The service will obviously include music and some levity…after all, anyone who knew her was well aware of her “Jayneisms” and people will be invited to share some of those at that time!
